My baby boy did just as I thought he would. At 7:30am he peeked his little head out his door and smiled his little smile. It just melted my heart and I was so proud of my little boy. I was changing Jameson's diaper but wanted to just hug him and love him. A proud moment for sure.

Another bright note...LT and I went to Home Goods today and oh my god...I love that place. I could have easily spent upwards of $500, but got out with only $130. This time.

New Year

Zero comments, but that's OK...I'm still writing.

Tonight is Jack's first night in his toddler bed! I'm very excited to see how he does but am really confident he'll be just fine. My gut is telling me we'll all wake up at 7:30am tomorrow and go on with our day. Experience (well, other people's experience) tells me that probably won't be the case and that's Ok too. I know what to do each time he gets up and I'm prepared to do it until the sun rises. He's such a sweet little boy and I have to tell him every chance I get. And how proud I am of him and what a good big brother he is. Even if he still has a long way to go with sharing and taking turns, I'm still proud. We really thought Jack was emotional, but Jameson has him beat by a long shot! The temper tantrums turn on so fast and are so intense, it's hard to detach yourself and not get him whatever he wants.

Right now I'm watching The Biggest Loser on tv, drinking a beer and hating the 10 lbs. that I've gained in the last 2 months. There's reasons, excuses and all kinds of things that keep me out of the gym and continuing to make terrible decisions. None of them really matter though. What matters is what that f'ing scale says and it ain't pretty. I was doing really well for a while then I ran on the road to get ready for a 5k I wanted to run and that was the start of the end. So part of my New Years resolution is to get the body I want. The other part is to get the home I want! I'm already living IN the house I want, now I just have to make it the HOME I want.

News

I'm writing on here to see how many people will actually read this. Facebook is the addiction of choice these days, so I wouldn't be surprised if the count was low.

Jim has been walking for a few months now and is as curious as ever. He loves to get into things, pull them out, toss them around and just generally make a HUGE mess whenever he can. Jack is still perfectly content playing with his trains all day long. And watching shows about trains, wearing clothes with trains on them, eating train shaped food...you get the idea. As Jamey did as a child, Jim loves the toy push mower. He goes around and around and around the house for as long as half an hour! That's a long time when you consider the attention span of a 18 month old is like, 4 seconds.

They're both still doing really well at daycare. They used to cry when I would leave, but now they barely notice that I've gone! Especially this week. Corienna, the daycare provider, was out of town for 2 very long weeks and after a few days, the kids started getting really antsy in our house. I tried to take them out to do things like the park and my all time favorite, the Target run, but it was still too much time together. I'm glad we found such a great place for them though I do wish they would sleep just a little longer there.

Jim can whistle. He doesn't know he's doing it, but it's definitely a whistle.

We have had a family of mourning doves right outside our front door in a dogwood tree and they've all just left the nest. They nest year round a whole bunch of times and this time we were lucky enough to see the whole thing from building the nest to everyone flying the coop. It was awesome! Once the babies were hatched and we could see them, we checked on them everyday and Jack would point and say "bird" or "baby" or "mama". They make a pretty small nest for being medium sized birds so when they babies started getting big enough to see, sometimes mom would squish them between herself and the edge of the nest. Then one of them had to sit on the branch because there just wasn't enough room for him. Then we noticed one was missing, so we figured he fell out and was scarfed up by some nasty predator. But we saw him higher up in another tree! He could fly!! His brother wasn't so brave, but sitting on a branch right next to the nest and mom was next to him. This was yesterday so for the rest of the day and night until I went to bed, I stalked the doves to see if the not so brave baby would take off. Right before I went to bed I went out one last time and stepped on the nest! Everyone had made it out safely. They were all perched in different trees in my front yard this afternoon and I was so happy for them.

My grandmother has been staying with us for I think 4 weeks now. She had her gall bladder removed and can't be trusted going up and down the stairs at my mothers house which is where she had been before. It's been a big adjustment for everyone, but the kids adore her and love going into Gigi's room and climbing up onto the bed and snuggling with her. They don't even do that with me! I don't know how long she'll be here, but I feel safer knowing she's here with us.

Jamey signed us all up for a membership at our local gym...4 Seasons. It's an interesting place. I mean, they have all the machines, a sauna, childcare, all the essentials. But they don't supply towels! That seems crazy to me! I've never been anywhere that doesn't provide towels either for showers or just sweat towels. I learned this the not so pleasant way when I was done getting all sweaty and gross, was ready to take my shower and couldn't find them. I was shocked and kinda pissed. Another thing, the childcare is only from 9-11:30am and 5:30-8:30pm! So I have to go in the morning when I have the kids!

Jack's speech is improving lately. He tells us that he's fast, wants to play boom (I throw him around on the couch) or that he's ready to go. He can actually say alot of things which is a big step from just a few months ago. He calls my mom "news" or "nuns" or something like that. The rest of us call her Grammy so I'm not sure where news is coming from. Time out, or I should say the threat of time out is a funny thing. I ask him not to throw his toys once. Then the second time I tell him that if he throws his toys again he'll have to stand in time out and he just walks over to the corner and stands there! I'm not sure where the confusion is, but I kinda feel bad for him! haa haa

I will be going to Los Angeles to be killed off in a horror movie in February 2010! It will be the largest group electrocution in movie history and I'm really excited!! Hopefully we can all go and be able to spend some time with Beau while we're there, but with Jamey's schedule, who knows.

Lucy will be graduating high school in May. I'm not sure where she'll be going to college, but I heard talk about Wake Forest. She's aced the interview, but isn't sure she's willing to commit just yet. What a girl. :)

I'll be going back to school to be a nurse starting the winter semester. I have to get all the normal college prerequesites out of the way before I can start the nursing program at Carroll. That is IF I get accepted. Not everyone does and it's really cutthroat. Everyone keep your fingers crossed that I can do it. I'll go all the way with it and get my masters and I'm thinking either Shock Trauma type work or Nurse Practitioner. We'll see. I'll have to work really hard, but I think I'm up for it.

That's all I got for now. More to come.....

Hand, foot and mouth sickness

The poor Hebb children have the hand, foot and mouth sickness. High fevers, crankiness, and blisters...not fun. Jameson has them on the inside and outside of his mouth and all over his hands and feet. Jack just on the inside of his mouth, but he keeps pointing inside his mouth and crying. We went to see the doc on Saturday when just Jameson was sick and she said it's highly contagious and Jack would probably get it so I wasn't really surprised. What I was surprised at hearing is that a 103+ degree temperature isn't something to be super worried about! It's your child's demeanor that you have to watch. Like if you can't wake him easily or he's inconsolable, that kind of thing. Anyway, the whole thing should last about a week and because it's viral, it can't be treated with antibiotics or anything. Just Tylenol and Motrin.

More recently...

First: Jack and Jim in our pool
Second: Jack's "I know I'm cute" face.
Third: Chillin' out watching Thomas.
Fourth: WWF wrestling on the sofa.

It's the 4th of July and poor Jameson has a summer virus. Still cute as ever, just with a few tiny sores on the outside of his mouth.

Jack's frog

Today we went outside and across the street to my parents house. They have a fish pond that's almost ready for the year. Jack found a frog! He picked it right out of the water, held it and was totally fascinated by it. Also not scared or cautious at all. He really loved catching him and would pick him up, examine him then toss him back into the water. Then wait until the frog would swim back to the edge close enough for Jack to pluck him out again. I have to say I wasn't sure if I was going to let this happen at first, but I figured this is what boys do. Get dirty and play with frogs. He was gentle enough and the frog wasn't exactly trying to keep his distance from Jack. It was really cool to watch him discover a frog for the first time! I'll upload the video soon too!

Good times

The wagon..Jack likes to push, pull or just walk right beside it. Jameson is perfectly happy riding in it. He's crawling and drinking from a sippy cup as if he's been doing it his whole life. :) The dog in the picture is my friend, Carisa's dog, Riley. She is so sweet and great with the kids. She loves to lick them, they love it right back. Jameson especially!
His party is this Sunday and he'll be 1, but he's still my tiny baby. Nicky is making the cake, Charlotte's Web theme! There will be a web in the corner and the writing will say "That's some baby!". She's so talented and creative and came up with that idea by herself.
Jack still isn't speaking yet, but he's talking about something pretty much all the time. I can kinda get the topic of the conversation, sometimes. He's got it all figurerd out though in his own little brain. :)
They're both so sweet and perfect.

Jack was in the tub and we use a small plastic mixing bowl that he plays with and I rinse him with. Tonight he figured out that when he pours the water out just right, the water lands on his tinkler and he thought that was just the greatest thing.

Turkeys

So today I look out the family room window with Jameson and there's these turkeys! Three real-live, large turkeys walking in our back yard around the pear tree! I didn't let Gus outside, I had to get a picture of them! No batteries. By now they've cornered themselves in the fence by the white garage that's seperate from our house. I watched and watched figuring I had no time to get new batteries and have them still be there to photograph. They were in no hurry to get out and I kinda thought they were stuck so I ran to get the batteries. When I got back, they were up on the fence...all three of them. They hopped onto the other side of the fence andjustpranced around like they owned the place! All over our yard, our neighbor's-The Gomez's-yard...without a care in the world! I got a picture of them as they were making their way up Breezewood Lane past our mailbox. Once I was done, another neighbor, Mr. Fred, told me he's seen them a couple of times over the last few weeks. Again, acting like they owned the place! Not scared in the least of humans or dogs or anything! I'm sure no one else cares about these birds as much as I do, but they were really cool.

Poor Jameson...his reflux is getting worse and had to be switched to another medicine, Prevacid. It's a p-word pump inhibitor. I can't remember what the first p-word is. It completely shuts off the production of belly acid. He's having a really hard time sleeping during the day, but still sleeps at night...thank goodness. He arches his little back and screams bloody murder! It breaks my heart. Jack had it too, but his was very well controlled on a medication called Axid. Not as strong as Prevacid. Prevacid is also prescribed for adults in a different dose. It'a real pain to give him. It's a pill that you break apart and pour out the granules, then try to figure out what half looks like, stir it up in his baby food and hope he doesn't spit up all the baby food! Not fun at all.

Jack is great as usual. His first boo-boo healed just fine. :)

Things Jack Loves

Jack loves to clean the pool. There's a skimmer to fish out bugs, leaves and things and it has a looong handle. Pop uses the skimmer pretty regularly and Jack has now made it his personal mission to take over this task. He loves doing it, but when he's done, he just drops the handle in the pool. Someone usually catches it before it goes completely under and you have to get in to retreive it. When you take the pole out, he goes over, gets it and resumes his duty. It's very serious when it's time to clean the pool. He walks past the little pool with the swimmy fish to do his job.

Jack also loves his wagon. As most of you know, he can climb in and out, push and pull the wagon and loves to be pulled around in it. Last night after dinner at Sheriff's and LT's, he wanted to go outside and play with the wagon. Well, for an hour Pop, Dad and I took turns running him around their front yard until 9:00! We all lost track of time having so much fun and all. What a good workout!

First band aid

This is a little late, I meant to post it on the day it happened, but have run out of time several times!

We were all outside...me, Jack, Jameson, my dad and my grandmother...and Jack insisted on going up the steps that lead to the kitchen after many failed attempts to keep him in the driveway. The bottom step is concrete and the next step is Trex decking and a little steeper than the others. Even though my dad was right there, and he's an ace at getting up the steps, he crashed out on the last one. When I saw him, he was on his back with that look on his face where he's not sure if he should cry or not. He ended up with a big scratch on his elbow and a big band aid to match! Jack was not all that traumatized, but I was.
